In The Spirit of Biggest Loser Asia ( Fat vs Lean)

why did i brought up this issues , am i a biggest loser too, it could be ler kot hehe, anyway..last Sunday me and my friends were chit chatting after breeze walking around a mall in klang, a day before we had our blood pressure checked at Caring Pharmacy and my reading was a little higher on the lower part 83 ...gulp....never hit that mark before and my overweight best friend is slightly lower than mine....which concludes that being overweight does not mean u not healthy kan...mmm then why do people want to lose weight lar kan...if they are healthy even though they are overweight mm... let it be lar......so x payah susah nak kuruskan badan katanyer...

they kept on teasing me ...hahahah kata lari tapi BP pun tinggi tgk macam dia sugar in blood 4 jer BP pun lebih kurang same...i guess he must be right...well.. having to endure a lot of painful memories of my relatives passed away either obese or overweight related diseases..gave me the creeps ler...

but for me i gain more than i loose, my self confidence, my health or else i'll be on BP medication by now, a lot of motivating new friends and fun fun fun,,,achieving something that thought impossible to do back then....as for me being overweight..well u may get away this time but slowly it will creeps in ..well why must u put yourself at risk..kan... one of the thing i learnt from being slightly lean (huhuu perasan)...is that whenever i do binge..i can shake the weight off...plus reaping the benifits of working out..hehehe

KLAVA 09 Back To Nature Relay (katanyer)

The run was actually held at Batu Dam resevoir not at Taman Metropolitan as said in the forms, punye ler jenuh mencari organiser x jumpa jumpa dalam taman tu, perrrggg... as usual i am the earliest among GBS, tul ke? i arrived at around 6.15 am, talk about early bird catch the worm, had a quick breakfast 2 set of toasted bread with bluberry jam spread, plus having to endure quite a bad gastric pain post raya melantak, i'm really not in a good shape, well this is only 3.5 km run, what the heck, redah ajer.... the day before i went to redah ajer 17 km at Lake Titiwangsa,

back to the race , the starting and registration tent was actually 1 km away from our parking spots, no wonder ler i tak jumpa, sampai sosat ler,....heheh, called the Grim Tri ( Bro Ian and Che) Otw dah pukul 7 ni, Che's car was in trouble, punctured tyre by an ice breaker stick???huh..how did that get on the road, it could be a murder weapon, ceh CSI ler pulak, ok nevermind i took the bibs and decided the i will be the first runner then Che and last will be Bro Ian ( he much faster than us, trainer kan,..) our number started with 20-01 (first runner) then continues to the third..x de lak 20-12 hehehe

The race was a little bit kelam kabut ler...maklum ler orang- orang veteran yang handle, no portable toilets were available, the ones at the park do not open till 8 am , apo ke jadah ler, well it is back to nature theme right, so another stream of back to nature ler...happening around the race area..huhu...i almost forgot to take my baton, there actually a baton, well...it seems that the organiser had foreseen that most the runners are subsequent runners from the same previous event held before,...well yeah..not us..mane lar tahu tetibe dia bagi ribbon jer..nak save ler katanyer

being the first runner, selalu harapan yang paling tinggi, i did ran all the way to starting line, my pace was terribble , i'm just out of air all the time, 3.5 km sprinting...mmm..not trained for that, the veterans were very strong indeed...they very much better than us..perrr malu ler pulak...heheh, they were couple of the usuall runner's faces around i.e. chap ayam, der pacemakers, heheh..

well it was a fun race, i did not give my all, just enjoying the view of the dam plus running with fav running buddies of GBS,

the price giving ceremony was so lengthy, it was held under the scorching morning sun, perrrg..could we just take our medal and leave, plus there are no foods after race, as for Che he is ok with that but for me..alamak lapar tahap cipan ni...nak tunggu dapat medak pun dah dekat sejam perrrggg...

overall the running was fun but the race ....ok ler, ..taking into consideration the limited amount of funds plus it was organised by the veterans kan...

I was poking around with Che, we were saying that next year Bro Ian could not be in our category anymore hehehe..dah jadi junior veteran ler dia....

Final Verdict : My time 18 minutes, our placing is 18 out of 35 ( i think)...

Post PBIM09 RUN (updated)

The day that i thought i could just be sitting at home, lounging n sipping tea, yet im up in the middle of the night, this time around me with my fellow runners, haiza, warie, tini, rashid, loh, hanis, mariana, anne n not forgetting our trusted entourage adrea, ayu n jr, hopefully they joint us one of these days, dah macam trip g jalan jalan pulak kan, bukannyer berlari huhuhu, sorry for the lack of info, cause im blogging in the car otw back to kl. The race was fantasticly well organised, kudos to the organiser they did learnt from series of terrible races-ample toilets, drinking stations, etc. The weather was fine all the way till finished, 21km started at 3.30 am, the crowd this time were huge very much more than the 42 huahuahua...may be next year will be my turn, took kak haza n kak kash advice on the need to be well hydrated n pacing, i managed to run all the way to the finish line, kudos to me, albeit my time was nothing to be proud of ...we all did finish before the qualifying time, fuhh kudos to all of us first time 21km runners huhu, final verdict: time 2 hr 22 min, no calories count

enjoy some of pics taken during before and after the run

Thus far, i had not even run 22 km staright yet, gulp...could you believe that, yet...i'm going for 22km..this sunday, alamak...cuwak ler.., i can't seem to find the right stamina to push through the 10km, well for a start i not running out on the road, most of it are on the treadmill, i wish i could just proliferate it on the track but time had always being un kind with me..scarcity as i am in time thus making my training a little bit hay wire ler...10 km pun masih semput lagi dah ler tur...baru atas treadmill tau. I felt so undermine whenever they talk about marathon..kan like to joint them...may u should just be...

am i that ready yet for this upcoming Sunday, is my training suffice or should i add more miles to it,

GBS's Kiara Trail Run`

GBS with their signature pose on top of Penchala Link Tunnel
(Pic taken by our Official Camerarunner, Nik)

Fun and Filling, two words best to describes the kind of feeling running my my fellow GBSses, this is my first time running at Kiara Park, never knew that there is a park near KL that is surrounded by lush Jungle...maybe i did not explore much of KL parks , so consume to nearby ones only, i did not took any pictures, most of the fellow GBS were bloggers too , Abg Nik and Bro Ian are our official photgrapher, can't wait to see what turnload will be.

After subuh , i moved on to the park, kind of lost in the beginning, thought it could be another kiara entrance, well the word kiara could be another side mont kiara ka? desa kiara ka? sekali TTDI ler its entrance, found myself a parking spot, right infront of my fav place before any run ler, The toilet, rush in do my business, well i did at home, i guess not enough had been released, it must be yesterday dinner party, though it was fun but the food is quite bad....mmm talked about 5 star rating hotel...

after finishing my business, i thought of going to the venture park since i was there quite early, got all my gear ready : hydartion pack, my trusty trail shoes, genting trailblazer tshirt and my trusty kappa pants, looking at the reaction of the aunties and uncles at the park gazing at me, must be crazy runner ler ni,...heheh took a quick walk around the lake, i'm quite astonished with the park surroundings : the lake, the jungle, the small river flowing to lake..wow the landscape was well maintained and nicely done...the park had mixed of followings from old chap to the younglings and from trail runner up to MTB groups, and its all at the vicinity of the big old chap KL...

while walking around the lake, i bum into Abg Nik and Syah doing their warm up run..to tell u the truth... i felt rather lazy to run that day, i draged myself up so that i will had enough training for PIBM next week. Syah and Nik were so up with their run, so i decided to go back to the carpark and rush back to the toilet for a quick leak, why ler kan sometimes i just can't help it, too much or too little i drank the day before or it just me...met up with Bro Ian, Doris & Meng ( nice meeting you guys) , Kak kash, Shakil (nice meeting u too, confused name lebih kurang same) and Shuk(same to u too;nice to meet u)...did a little strecthing lead by Bro Ian plus some technical jargon about the strecthing principles....no wonder he is the personal trainer kan..per lar aku ni...and finally Che arrived (grand entrance ler tul mamat ni, anyway today and onwards GBS's trail runs will be lead by him plus wild gym prog .by CorporateAthletes.com, hurrah Che) and not forgetting Abg Shukri and his wife(which left early in the midst of the run).

Then off we gone to the trail, according to Che with the map, we will be running the Salomon's X trail route, the trail was wet and quite slippery thanx to the afternoon raining season now, well the weather had been kind on us , making the run more enjoyable, i took the role of the sweeper (well it suits my running mood that morning, kind of under the blues a bit), the track was runnable all the way with a mix of steep up and down hill, at a point we reached to the top of penchala link tunnel, kind of surreal -never thought i could end up on top a tunnel, we bum into abondoned immigrant settlements lar, pondok durian lar and to my suprise there were quite a number of rubber trees and still tappable...another amazing facts for me ,KLians...we did reached to the other side of the Kiara's peak i think so ler, being the sweeper u kind of left out about the details of the pack- ensuring the ones at the back were not left out...the route back were downhills and lead back to a tarmac route..pelik ..we went to the tarmac route downhill before hitting back the off road..and end up back to same tarmac place pelik lagi where all the MTBs group up- i guess they are taking turns to go into the trail kot...

there were few MTBs we met along the trail (constantly shouting : bikers please make way) and gazing at the bike they rode and Shakil said to me one of the bike cost about RM 30k, gulp...should i go for that one, per dah macam renovate rumah ler kan...im clueless about MTB ler...kene ade guide ler or else i will end up with one mountain of debt ler...kan

finally we arrived back to the carpark meeting point but Doris and Meng had to go off right after, missing the splendid after run meals ..the spreads were no close to any run i had been, felt bersalah ler pulak x bwk ape pun, i was thinking of making something but thanx to the hangover last night dinner, there are cooling melons by kak kash, Chickendok by Abg Shah, cooling 100+ by Shuk and not forgetting Salad Popiah by Bro Ian..we had so much fun chit chating while having our meal.. listening to their stories on the preparation for upcoming marathon, excited pulak,

running, sharing stories while eating the our meals, laughing , charming and praising each other, these are the kind of activities u thought running could ever developed...we should do this more often..running in groups..

Verdict : Our time 2 hrs 44 min, calories burnt 1400...and the rest were fun and filling mmm yummy..minus the after toilet rushed...

Squash Training

My new venture into diversifying my cardio work out plan, well sometimes , just running itself would be boring ....it all started a month ago although i had bought the racket way back even before ramadan..lame jugak nak tunggu bile boleh pakai ler....

Used to see my colleague playing the game whenever i passed the court on my way to the office's gym..seronok jugak watching them hitting on a piece of cute round thing against the wall , bouncing back and forth,mm thinking how was it like to play the game, looks like fun....

i signed up for the training at the office's gym, our prelimenary training was on the rules and regulations of the game then moves on to the delivering techniques, wow so much technicals were involved in playing squash...

squash is physically demanding as well skillful game, you need to be at all time aware of your opponent patterns of strikes, i was toast several times..moving at all four corners of the court, poof...luckily i had my running stamina well that is not enough , u need skill as well so that you will able to drive your opponents in a locking position.

sayangnyer, not many men in my offfice play squash so i was left with my ownself to train and sometimes rely on my coach to play, however they are few akak ler..but not the same ler, fighting with girls , u feel pity that u beat them heheh....

Above all, it makes you realised that there are many avenues for you to stay active, be it running, walking, football, tennis , squash, etc.. people only thought of running is the only best way to be active, well although it is the best, it may not be just that, we need to explore the active definition soon u will find there are limitless of activities u can do to be fit...

as for my squash venture hopefully i could be good at it....practice practice....

22km Vs 42 km > Am i?

reading other blogger's about their preparation toward Singapore Marathon made me wonder, whether am i prepared yet for such a race, gulp yes yet again, I'm always like that lahh..on any race starter, never had that kind of confident like the other racers ,

my running experiences had always been only in the range of 10 to 20 km..well included trail running too yeah, PIBM is getting near and i am nowhere ready in terms of training, starting to feel the jitters flowing in my veins, i cant make it to my usual running track as i did last time, i could only afford to run on the office's treadmill ajer.. itu pun barely hitting 5 km in 28 minutes...i know i should be doing more than that, i just too poof after that,

itu ler , whenever i heard that someone is doing half marathon, it puts the creep in mind slowly moving into timid mode, i never could actually improve my 10 km time beyond the 50 minutes barrier, i should be sprinting right..frustrated:(

maybe i should just adapt redah ajer attitude, let the mental strength be the controlling valves instead of your muscles..

Mountain To Mountain Zone III: Gunung Bujang Melaka

Another trail running after Genting Trailblazer, what am i putting myself into this time...giloss..since i had no plans on that day..well another trail run would not hurt kan....

Me and Bro Ian this time around...Abg Syah could not make it due to some Kenduri matters....i guess he must had enough of trail running kot...heheh. We started our journey from KL at around 5.30 am stop by at Shell near Sungkai i think...Subuh kejap then move on....called the organiser to confirm the start time...per..8.00 am..gulp can we make it, with the aid of F1 driver by the name of Bro Ian, we did make it to the race's starting area ,Kompleks Rakan Muda Kampar..get ourself registered..to my surprise i number is A080 (my bday year) ..kan lucky number ke? mmmm

Not many participants this time around, but there are regular faces, it could be they are elite power bar group, we were flaged off at 8.00 am, the first 3 km of the race was tarmac route leading to Batu Berangkai Waterfall, isk some sorts like Tampin, Negeri Sembilan Mountain Circuit...

The trail leading up to the peak..were mixed of runnable and power walkable...in my opinion the trail is milder than Nuang... we almost got lost..during the run..in the midst of the run..we missed out the race markers..per...we hike up to to wrong route..nasib baik ler there are few of us..or else sesat ler aku...wasted about 30 minutes there...

Finally after 2 hours and 45 minutes hiking , we managed to reach the top..with our hydration pack almost empty..mine is..had our rest and some snacking...mini mars and snickers. The downhill was tough..but i kept on running while Bro Ian had move on further down..we managed to refill our hydration pack...i'm more confident to run when i'm hydrated,,dont want the cramps to slow me down..or kill off my running moods..

Reached the finishing line, at about 12.00 pm, the last leg of the race the Tarmac routes was killing me, with the scorching afternoon sun...per..almost fried ler ..well done steak...

(us at the top)

The after run food experiences....mmm not nice..one Kopitiam in Kampar (ok ler) another mee rebus kampar (perr lagi teruk)...

The Final Verdict: Total time 4 hours and 34 minute , end up with nothing...not even a cert...mm but the trail was fun...

Genting Trailblazer 09 Post Run

yet another finisher medal for my trail running event...this time its Genting Trailblazer 2009, i was fortunate that i was given a chance to enter the race...being a rookie in this arena , i often waited for any offer to joint...Thanx Che for the offered...our team is called Grim Duo ( well we are seriously involved in the run)

Both of us did not had enough rest the day before, Che was even worse, he said that he had to take care of some big event..end up at the same venue as we ( bro Ian and me) are...being newbie to this event, i woke up quite early in the morning..kata nak meet up at Petronas Tmn Melati, but received message that Che is going straight to venue, so i chow dulu..leaving Abg Nik waiting for Abg Syah and Bro Ian...sekali pi sane semua org pun x de..i was the first person at the race venue...better early than late kan..dah ler i ni jenis kelam kabut..huhuhu

Arrived at genting at about 7.00 am..waited by the bench at the race venue ( padang nearby awana).. have a look at the obstacle..oisk leh thn jugak yer...I prepared earlier this time due to the limited time i had before the race..pack myself a lot of chocolate snacks (which end up being eaten at my hotel..huhuh) ,4 packs of ORS , analagesic cream and 2 packs of powergel...some preparation huh...iyelar being only weekend warrior ..u must able to know what your limits are..

got registered and meet up with Macam Bagus (Abg Syah , Bro Ian, Abg Nik [pelik 3 org lak ek...]) had quick and heavy breakfast depa ler...mine is McD's cheese burger while waiting for them at Petronas Tmn melati which i eventually left before meeting them up...,, Jitters started flow again in my veins..later calmed down by my fellow GD mate ,Che...

Before the race start we did some stretching, i followed my Cip ler...had some brief rounds of 5 minutes run around the venue..later meet up with Macam Bagusz (plural sbb ade 3 org hehe) the run started with the championship category then adventure, (nothing differ except the prize money, lebih itu jer) as usual my starting is not always the best..i guess it may be due to the irregular heart beat ..jitters ler...tur..

The route started with tarmac road around the golf course, the weather was misty, it was like running in the mist, with visibility up to 20m.. , another first time for me, wearing shorts pulak, per sejuk ler..and furthermore our breathing were also changed due to the density of the air at the altitude...me and che made an agreement that he will catch me up at the downhill (he knows better) , downhill never my fav running course,

me and Che were moving side by side till at the uphill slope when i move ahead..then we meet up again at the downhill (Che fav)..but guess what?..this time around i was ahead even at the downhill...sliding all the way..maybe due to the adrenaline rush kot...feeling intoxicated..kept on running till i left che quite far behind..Che was having difficulty running due to his about to torn shoes' sole, started to feel the muscle straining..locking and unlocking position on my left toe..i took my ORSs progressively along the run..resting while due to the traffic..hehe traffic jammed ler dlm hutan,,kuang kuang...finally i reached the final water checkpoint waited for Che met up with MB then a few minutes later Che arrived..i kept on running at very slow pace resting leg's muscles before it turn worst..i did not wore my heart rate monitor this time...

I can hear the music from the venue , we are getting closer to the finish line, waited yet again for Che ( he must had serious issues with his shoes ) , when we arrived at the starting point of the obstacle course i could see Che's shoes were almost torn..lar kesian pulak tgk.. It was my first obstacle run, i enjoyed every bit of the mud and sliding and finally i took Che's hand and pulling him toward the finish line..I was not being myself at that time...tingtong ckit...maybe due to the ORSses kot.. then came the very thing i feared in almost every trail run the cramps...i hate it so much,,what did do wrong this time around yer...berape byk ORS aku kene telan ek..to avoid the cramps ..but i was drinking quite alot this time around..and thanks to the ample drinking stations..

(one of the obstacles)

The cramps happened at the embarassing time ,at the shower room lak tur, luckily i still had my clothes on..or else masak ler aku jln tut...at first it was my left leg ok..dah bgn nak pakai kasut then the right leg..per...there i laid flat on the shower room..luckily Abg Nik and Che were around to hold my legs or else ill be screaming till top of my lung..itu ler...i should not had immersed my leg in the cold water (another 101 lesson in running) i had to walk limping all the way to the First Aid tent for additional aid..both my legs were on Ice nasib baik ade St John Ambulance's team, i was not all alone there , there were few racers that were in the same conditions as i am....to add to the misery state i'm in..i was shivering due to the coldness ..still managed to grab some foods and walked back to my car..there Che and the others had finished changing to their dry clothes..

(kaki oh kaki nape ler hang sakit yer..)

Final Verdict : Our time is 2 hours , placing 32, although it was not the best place but i had such blast of fun and thanx to those whom introduced me into trail running....ok Che we'll see what if u can catch me up at Salomon Kiara... ada berani
